Amanda Ekery is a Grammy nominated, Syrian-Mexican, multi-instrumentalist, singer and composer. She combines music, research and jazz into her compositions and performances. She has collaborated with a wide range of people including historians, artists, engineers and bakers. She has performed at the Portland Jazz Festival, the Panama Jazz Festival, and The Kennedy Center among others. Her latest release, Árabe, is informed by her Syrian and Mexican shared history and culture on the El Paso border, and it comes along with essays in a 60 page art book with the history and stories behind each track. She’s a winner of the ASCAP Herb Alpert Composers award and the Jazz Hero Award for her gender equity work with El Paso Jazz Girls, her nonprofit organization.
